I am new in BLAG but I can't use my USB ports and wireless networks. I miss some firmware...

What to do ?

Good Day,

In respect to your usb ports and wireless networks, if the firmware for the hardware is non-free, by default the linux-libre kernel will not support the hardware.

If you can run lsusb from a terminal, that will provide information about the manufacturer for the usb ports on your system. In regards to your wireless, you can run lspci.

The list of non-free firmware and the associated device is available on the LibrePlanet page, however, if you can not determine it, please feel free to paste the output from the commands here.

Lastly, please let is know if you downloaded the 140000 or are using our 200000 Beta.

My problem, when I use this commands in BLAG, the Wireless card and usb ports are not displayed !!!!

Thank you for the information. In regards to the wireless card, from using HP personally, I've found that the ralink cards are generally not supported. With that said, your bluetooth is probably also non-fuctional as well. I will look further into the usb ports, but the answer may be the same based on the fact that the hardware is displaying currently in Ubuntu. You're just using the built in ports on the laptop and not a hub connected to the usb port correct?

Hi banyakwa welcome to blag, I run blag on a Thinkpad which uses Intel Wifi card and other Intel components however I have to admit that I also use another kernel and not the Libre version.

If you like to use Blag on your existing hardware the option of changing the kernel is available as a cheaper way to continue using Blag without replacing your hardware. For advice on changing the kernel in Blag just ask how to do that on the blag irc channel.
