as blag has at its ideological heart a siding for the underdog, it strikes me that we could do more as a community to distribute blag to those who find it difficult to download.

i'm therefore offering to mail cds of the latest stable and/or beta release to those who can't download for reasons of being on dailup or only have access in internet cafes or some such.

so we can do this as a mutual aid thing, if you are able to return a cd of photos of where you're from/are, that would be cool.

Nice idea, I have been thinking of giving away copies of various distros on political stalls, BLAG the deserving!!

I give away copies even now. I have probably burned over 500 copies of BLAG since it has started and that's only a wild low estimate.

So do I, must be in the high hundreds too and have managed to convert people from Windoze to Blag and still and will continue to do both.

Wow. My distribution count is nowhere near as high as you guys. Probably 20-50 or so, can't remember. But I always give two CDs to the undecided. Once they are "hooked" they end up giving the other CD to a buddy.

Well it is easier for me to distribute as I meet a lot of people notably through schools in my area. I hardly do any converting and more introducing to the new people. I find most Windows users don't even need converting, they just hit their wits end with the crap crashes and more recently that Windows checker that tells you how you have a pirated copy even if you don't. Add to that all the cool free software like AVG becoming not so free and it is easy to understand why people get annoyed. Paying for quality like those people with Macs do is one thing. Paying for rubbish is quite another.

I ordered BLAG from a number of different distributors. One set arrived already, so I'm testing the CDs to see if they were burned OK.

OSDisc (US) seems quite good and so does Tuxdiscs (UK), although I haven't received the latter CDs yet.

Hi..I live in a remote part of India where it is difficult to even have a decent phone connection going. But I've been hooked to linux and the open source phenomenon in a big way, that I eat..sleep..think linux :-)
